A very large number of integrals(new and known) involving named functions like reduced Green function, Mittag-Leffler function, polylogarithm function, Konhauser biorthogonal polynomial, Cesaro polynomial, multivariable Hermite polynomial and several others that find applications in solving boundary value problems occurring in engineering sciences and statistics follow as special cases of ourtmain result.

Since the non-empty feasible domain of fuzzy relation equations is in general a non-convex set, the conventional linear programming methods cannot be applied. Therefore, an efficient procedure for such problems appears to be necessary. In this communication, we characterize the feasible domain and then introduce procedures to solve the problem. Example is given for the illustration of the procedure.

Study the automorphic duals of split classical groups in the non-archimedean case (defined in [10]), and a relation between isolated points in the unitary and automorphic duals. Particular attention is devoted to the unramified unitary representations ([26]). In the unramified case, we study relation between the property of being automorphic (and isolated there), and intrinsic properties of representations. In the case of split classical groups author gave combinatorial formulas for the number of isolated representations in the unramified unitary duals (these representations are also isolated representations in the automorphic duals), and for the number of so called strongly negative representations, which can be expected to be sets of isolated representations in the unramified automorphic duals. For the difference of special linear groups, we have plenty of both of these representations. Also discussed the case of automorphic duals of general linear groups.

Let M(α) denote the Mahler measure of the algebraic number a. In a recent paper, Dubickas and Smyth constructed a metric version of the Mahler measure on the multiplicative group of algebraic numbers. Later, Fili and the author used similar techniques to study a non-Archimedean version. We show how to generalize the above constructions in order to associate, to each point in (0, ∞], a metric version Mx of the Mahler measure, each having a triangle inequality of a different strength. We are able to compute Mx(α) for sufficiently small x, identifying, in the process, a function M with certain minimality properties. Further, we show that the map x → Mx(α) defines a continuous function on the positive real numbers.

This paper describes a new heuristic algorithm for the bottleneck traveling salesman problem (BTSP), which exploits the formulation of BTSP as a traveling salesman problem (TSP). Computational tests show that our algorithm is quite effective. It found optimal solutions for many problems from the standard traveling salesman problem library (TSPLIB) problems. We also consider BTSP with an additional constraint and show that our BTSP heuristic can be modified to obtain a heuristic to solve this problem. Relationships between symmetric and asymmetric versions of BTSP are also discussed.

Introduced in this paper a new relation between bilevel programming and multicriteria optimization. We show that solving a certain class of bilevel programming problem can be equivalent to solve two independents multicriteria optimization problems. The optimal solutions of the bilevel problem are then the Pareto optimal points corresponding to the nondominated points belonging to the intersection of the two efficient sets. Comment on the practical implementation of the obtained relation is discussed. A generalisation of the relation between bilevel programming optimization and multicriteria optimization, first presented by Fulop [1] is also discussed in the paper.

The aim of the study was to synthesize new dyestuffs based on 4,4'-methylene-bis(0-nitro aniline) derivatives in order to achieve good dyeing and fastness properties. The use of 4,4'-methylene-bis(O-nitro aniline) (1) as tetrazo component and ten different acid compounds as coupling components furnished a series often novel bisazo reactive dyes (5a-j), which were characterized by elemental analysis and different spectrometric technique like UV-Vis, IK and 1H NMR. The dyeing performance of these dyes was assessed on silk, wool and cotton fabrics. The dyed fabric showed moderate to very good light fastness and good to excellent washing and rubbing fastness properties. The dye bath exhaustion and fixation were found to be good and acceptable.

Defined the notion of a parabolic curve (X, 2), parabolic coverings and parabolic fundamental group both topological and algebraic. Authors proved some analogies with the etale coverings and classical fundamental groups. Then define parabolic genus g(X, Q) guided by the Hurwitz theorem for ramified coverings and show that g(X, Q) - 1 gets multiplied by the degree under a parabolic covering. Then authors proved a projection formula for parabolic vector bundles under parabolic coverings, using which obtain a cohomological criterion for semistability for parabolic bundles. Also obtain a criterion for a given map to factor through a parabolic covering in terms of parabolic bundles.

Differential evolution (DE) is a population based evolutionary search algorithm widely used for solving optimization problems. In the present article we investigate the application of parent-centric approach on the performance of classical DE, without tampering with the basic structure of DE. The parent-centric approach is embedded in the mutation phase of DE. Proposed two versions of (DE) called differential evolution with parent-centric crossover (DEPCX) and differential evolution with probabilistic parent-centric crossover (ProDEPCX) in order to improve the performance of classical DE. The proposed algorithms are validated on a test bed of ten benchmark functions and the numerical results are compared with basic DE and a modified version called trigonometric differential evolution (TDE). Empirical analysis of numerical results on the benchmark problems show that the performance of proposed versions is either at par or better in comparison to TDE and basic DE in terms of convergence rate and quality of fitness function value.

Proposed an algorithm for constrained global optimization of multivariate polynomials using the Bernstein form of polynomials. The proposed algorithm is of the branch and prune type, where branching is done using subdivision and pruning is done using the John optimality conditions for constrained minima. A main feature of this algorithm is that the branching and pruning operations are done with the Bernstein polynomial coefficients. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with those of existing global optimization techniques, on a few examples. The obtained results show the superiority of the proposed method over existing methods, in terms of number of iterations and computational time.

Differential evolution (DE) is an efficient and powerful population-based stochastic search technique for solving global optimization problems over continuous space, which has been widely applied in many scientific and engineering fields. However, the success of DE to handle a specific problem crucially depends on the proper choice of various parameters including the size of the population. Employing the trial and error scheme to search for the most suitable parameter settings requires high computational costs. In this paper, we propose a DE algorithm with an ensemble of parallel populations in which the number of function evaluations allocated to each population is self-adapted by learning from their previous experiences in generating superior solutions. Consequently, a more suitable population size takes most of the function evaluations adaptively to match different phases of the search process/evolution. Although the evolutionary algorithms have been investigated for about five decades, to our best of knowledge so far no effective population adaptation scheme has been proposed. The performance of the DE algorithm with an ensemble of parallel populations is extensively evaluated on a suite of 14 bound-constrained numerical optimization problems and compares favorably with the conventional DE with different single population sizes.

Paper presents the reliability optimization of a life-support system in a space capsule where reliability of the system is maximized while minimizing the cost. An interactive fuzzy satisficing method for deriving a Pareto-optimal solution preferred by the DM is presented here. Prior preference of the DM has been taken into account here. Using the concept of fuzzy sets and convex fuzzy decision making a multiobjective fuzzy optimization problem is formulated from the original crisp optimization problem. Different nonlinear membership functions based on the DM's preference have been employed for the fuzzification. Then, NSGA-II is applied to solve the resulting fuzzified MOOP. Resulting Pareto-optimal solution gives the DM variety of alternatives to seek an appropriate solution by modifying parameters interactively according to his/her preference again. Various Pareto-optimal fronts under different preferences of DM have been reported.

In this paper, used the concept of market segmentation in diffusion model for advertising a new product considering the external as well as internal influences and study the optimal advertising effectiveness rate in a segmented market. Discussed the evolution of sales dynamics in the segmented market under the assumption that the firm advertises in each segment independently. Further case of a single advertising channel, which reaches several segments with fixed spectrum, is also discussed. Such problems have not been discussed before. The optimal control theory is applied to study and solve both classes of problems.

While statins, hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) inhibitors, are clinically proven to reduce plasma cholesterol levels, a wide variation in inter-individual response to statin therapy has been observed. Pharmacogenetic studies have identified multiple loci that potentially contribute towards the statin response, including the HMGCR gene. To examine, if a statin-resistant, catalytically-active isoform of the human HMGCR could be generated, we have rationally altered the protein to include additional residues in the flap domain, which has a role in statin binding. Comparative enzyme assays with purified wild-type and mutant isoforms reveal the alteration imposes a slight (38%) decrease in the KMapp for the substrate, a near 2-fold increase in turnover number, and a 480% increase in the Ki for lovastatin. Thus, alterations in HMGCR could contribute towards the synergistic effects of multiple loci in the statin response.

This paper presents an analysis of capillary-tissue exchange system, representing blood by Casson fluid model flowing through a capillary of diameter 5 to 10 times larger than the red blood cells and the suspending medium plasma freely takes part in the exchange processes with surrounding tissue. Governing equations for continuity and momentum have been solved in the two regions (capillary and tissue) for fluid transport in capillary and the tissue subject to boundary and matching conditions at the capillary-tissue interface. The tissue has been identified as porous matrix following Darcy's law. Results for velocity profiles, pressure distributions in the two regions, wall shear stress and fluid flux at the interface have been represented through graphs and discussed. It has been noted that the capillary-tissue fluid exchange plays an important role in oxygen and nutritional transport to the tissue cells. Analysis oxygen transport is being presented in the next paper.

This model is able to predict drug release kinetics and the fractional drug release at any time t and a high degree of positive correlation is obtained between the findings of this model and the experimental results.

The propagation of a converging cylindrical detonation wave in a uniform combustible gas obeying the simplified van der Waals equation of state is studied. The law of convergence is determined by the condition that the detonation wave is Chapman-Jouguet front. An expression for similarity exponent is determined in terms of the parameter of non-idealness of the gas b and the ratio of specific heats γ. It is shown that the value of similarity exponent n, the strength of the detonation front and the density just behind the front decrease with an increase in the value of the parameter of non-idealness of the gas b, but the front velocity, the fluid velocity and the pressure just behind the front increases slightly with an increase in b. The effects of an increase in the value of γ are similar to those of an increase in the value of b.

We also study some structural properties of the optimal policies Our constructed policy bears out the fact that inventory backlogging with credit period lies between the inventory cycle and the length of the stock cycle when procurement cost is larger than the revenue cost, is beneficial from the organisational as well as economic point of view at getting maximum profit.

The adolescent fertility behaviour in India is scanty. In this paper an attempt is made to identify the possible risks of adolescent fertility behaviour among the Indian women in reference to their selected fertility behaviour. Data collected were analysed through Regression analysis to assess the fertility behaviour of adolescent girls of both rural and urban India. The logistic regression analysis shows that age at marriage, use of contraceptive and women's education affect the adolescent fertility most significantly. It was observed that a rise in age at marriage will bring about congenial social change by which the parents would be able to accommodate modern ideas by engaging their adolescent daughters in the school. In Indian society the contraceptive use for delaying subsequent births and preventing infection is a complicated issue for married girls. Women's education has a close association with fertility regulation and health seeking behaviour. The fertility pattern and contraceptive use among adolescents help us to understand the implications for adolescent reproductive health in a society. It also gives insight to the future fertility situation in the country. The study investigated the magnitude and state wise variation in adolescent fertility and pattern of motherhood in India and selected states.

Combined free and forced convection flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid in a rotating channel with perfectly conducting walls under the action of a constant pressure gradient and of a uniform transverse magnetic field applied parallel to the axis of rotation is studied. The walls of the channel are heated or cooled by a constant temperature gradient. Heat transfer characteristics of the flow are considered taking viscous and Joule dissipations into account. Exact solution of the governing equations for the fully developed flow is obtained in closed form. The solution, in dimensionless form, for the velocity and induced magnetic field contains three pertinent flow parameters. Viz. M2 (square of Hartmann number), K2 (rotation parameter) and G (Grashof number). The expressions for the shear stress at both the plates due to primary and secondary flows, mass flow rates in both the directions and critical Grashof number at both the plates due to primary as well as secondary flows, temperature field, and rate of heat transfer at both the plates are obtained. Numerical solution of the velocity and induced magnetic field is depicted graphically for various values of M2, K2 and G. The numerical solution of temperature field is depicted graphically for various values of K2 and G and presented in tabular form for different values of M2. The numerical results of shear stress at the upper plate and rate of heat transfer at both the plates are presented in tables for various values of M2, K2 and G while that of mass flow rate and critical Grashof number at the upper plate are presented in tabular form for different values of M2 and K2.

The mechanical material behaviour is assumed to be linearly elastic but heat conduction through it is governed by the modified Fourier equation and electrically the medium a perfect conductor. The problem of reflection and transmission of thermoelastic plane waves at, an imperfect interface between two generalized thermoelastic solid half-spaces of different elastic and thermal properties has been discussed. The generalized thermoelastic theory with two relaxation times developed by Green and Lindsay (1972) has been used to study the problem. The expressions for the reflection and transmission coefficients which are the ratios of the amplitudes of reflected and transmitted waves to the amplitude of incident waves are obtained for an imperfect boundary and deduced for normal stiffness, transverse stiffness, thermal contact conductance, slip and welded boundaries. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves are also deduced from the present investigation at the interface of two semi-infinite media (i) Elastic/Generalized Thermoelastic, (ii) Elastic/Elastic. The special case of stress free thermally insulated boundary has been discussed. It is found that the amplitude ratios of reflected and transmitted waves are affected by the stiffness and thermal properties of the media.
