Deals with the thermoelastic interactions due to distributed heat source in a homogeneous, isotropic and unbounded elastic medium in the context of the theory of generalized thermoelasticity with energy dissipation (TEWED) and without energy dissipation (TEWOED). Using Laplace transform, the fundamental equations have been expressed in the form of an inhomogeneous vector matrix differential equation which is then solved by the eigenvalue approach. The numerical inversion of the Laplace transform solution is carried out by applying the method of Bellman et. al and computations have been done by MATLAB software. The numerical estimates of displacement, stress and temperature fields in space time domain have been obtained and depicted graphically for aluminium-epoxy composite material. It is observed that when the effect of thermal conductivity is negligible TEWED coincides with TEWOED.

When the size of the experimental material is not sufficient to accommodate all the treatments, we.require incomplete block designs to test various treatments under study in agricultural and biological sciences. The author of the present paper has discussed one of the incomplete block design, namely, Balanced Incomplete Block Design ( BIBD ). He has tried to present the review of the available literature on BIBD in brief, its analysis in case of complete data, and in case of one missing observation as well. The subject matter discussed here is not entirely new, but its presentation is new. However, the method for the analysis of BIBD in presence of one missing observation has been developed by him in 1992 in his unpublished Ph. D thesis. The Complex mathematical expressions are avoided in the present paper, and only simple expressions are provided to analyze the data. The methods are also supported by suitable examples. This will be of great help to the investigators engaged in agriculture and biological sciences.

The need for estimating the missing values has long been recognized by workers dealing with experimental designs. When one or more missing observations occur in any design, then it requires a more complicated analysis. One way of restoring the simplicity of the analysis is to find out the estimates of the missing values and to work with the augmented data. Yates (1936), Allan (1930), Bartlett (1937), Das (1955), Rubin (1972), Kshirsagar (1971) & Singh and Pratap (1989) and many more statisticians have contributed a lot on this particular topic. All the numerous methods that have been advanced by various statisticians in this field during the last eight decades can broadly be classified into three categories namely (1) non-iterative procedures (2) iterative procedures and (3) Bartlett's covariance technique. The author of the present paper follows the procedure of Bartlett's covariate technique to analyze B. I. B. Design with one missing observation. This method is non-iterative and is applicable to any type of design and permits the calculation of exact standard error for the treatment effects.

In this model, fuzzy parameters are represented by linear membership functions and after the fuzzification, it is solved by both fuzzy non-linear programming (FNLP) and fuzzy additive goal programming (FAGP) method. The model is illustrated numerically and the results obtained from both FNLP and FAGP methods are presented. Solving this problem also for some numerical values by both FNLP and FAGP methods, optimum results are presented in tabular form for different weights.

But the other two availability functions, Namely, pointwise availability and Interval availability have been studied very little from inference point of view. The failure and repair time distributions are assumed to be exponential. Due to cost and time constraints in data collection progressively type II censored sample schemes are used. To compare the various estimates, a Monte Carlo simulation study is also performed.

Once an appropriate statistical model for survival time has been constructed and its parameters estimated, its information can help predict survival, develop optimal treatment regimens, plan future clinical or laboratory studies and so on. In estimation of parameters of the functions, the nonparametric or distribution-free methods are quite easy to understand and apply. But they are less efficient than parametric methods when survival times follow a theoretical distribution and more efficient when no suitable theoretical distribution are known. In this paper, an attempt has been made to give an overview on the applications of most commonly used distributions by the researchers in survival analysis of cancer patient's viz. The steady state creep in a rotating disc made of aluminium-silicon carbide particular composite (AI-SiC_p) has been investigated using von Mises and Tresca yield criteria. The creep in the disc has been described by Sherby's constitutive model. The creep parameters have been determined using regression equations developed on the basis of available experiment results. The stress and strain rate distributions have been calculated in the composite disc using both yielding criteria and presented through tables and graphs. The results indicate that the values of strains obtained using von Mises criterion are too low as compared to the experiment values, which is on the unsafe side for the purpose of design. The values of strains obtained using Tresca criterion are in better agreement with the available experimental results.

The properties e.g. pour point, density, kinematic viscosity, viscosity index, refractive index, flash point, iodine value and saponification value of jojoba oils obtained by SE and EX compare well with International Jojoba Export Council (IJEC) specifications except peroxide and microbial value. The statistical analysis showed that SE and EX jojoba oil samples obtained from all locations considered in the study can be mixed together and marketed as a single lot.

A theorem of normal crypto-groups given by Petrich and Reilly in 1999 from the class of completely regular semi-groups to the class of abundant semigroups has been exetended. It has been proved that normal crypto-superabundant group can be expressed as a strong semilattice of completely simple semigroups and vice versa. The theorem can be regarded as a generalized theorem of normal crypto-groups.

An investigation of transient local entropy generation rate in pulsating turbulent now through an externally heated pipe. The flow inlet to the pipe pulsates at a constant period and amplitude, only the velocity oscillates. The simulations are extended to include different pulsating flow cases (sinusoidal flow, step flow, and saw-down flow) and for varying periods. The flow and temperature fields are computed numerically with the help of the Fluent computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, and a computer program developed by us by using the results of the calculations performed for the flow and temperature fields. In all investigated cases, the irreversibility due to the heat transfer dominates. With the increase of flow period, the highest levels of the total entropy generation rates increase logarithmically in the case of sinusoidal and saw-down flow cases whereas they are almost constant and the highest total local entropy is also generated in the step case flow. The Merit number oscillates periodically in the pulsating flow cases along the flow time. The results of this study indicate that flow pulsation has an adverse effect on the ratio of the useful energy transfer rate to the irreversibility rate.
