Heat transfer through three dimensional couette flow of a viscous incompressible fluid through a stationary porous plate bounded by a porous medium and a porous plate moving with uniform motion is investigated. The fluid is injected with sinusoidal velocity through lower plante and sucked with constant velocity through upper moving porous plate. The paper is divided into two sections, taking lower plante isothermal in section-A and lower plate is an adiabatic in section-B. The governing equations of motion and energy with dissipation function are solved by using the regular perturbation and separation of variable techniques. The expressions of temperature distributions are derived in both the sections and shown through graphs. In section-A, the rate of heat transfer in terms of the Nusselt number at the lower plate and upper plate are derived and discussed numberically and their numerical values for various values of physical parameters are presented through Table-I. In section-B, the expressions of recovery factor at lower plate and Nusselt number at upper plate are derived and discussed numerically and their numerical values for various values of physical parameters are presented through table-2.

The effect of deterioration on purchase of extra stock is studied. The paper is supported by a numerical example.

It is assumed that the vertical plate moves upward in its own plane with a decreasing velocity. The plate velocity is represented by a steady part and a superimposed unsteady part, which decreases exponentially with time. The case of plate at rest and the case of plate moving with uniform velocity are particular cases of the present problem. The effect of various parameters entering in to the problem, on velocity, temperature and concentration fields and on skinfriction is discussed in detail.

Also its relationship with other domination parameters is investigated.

The unsteady MHD flow due to a rotating disk with a uniform angular velocity in the presence of an axial uniform magnetic field is examined. The induced magnetic field is neglected while the Hall effect is taken into consideration. The governing equations of the problem are then reducedto non-linear ordinary differential equations by introducing suitable similarity parameters. Thesimilarity equations are derived in such a way that one can see the effects of the angular velocity explicitly unlike the usual similarity transformation of rotating disk problems. Numerical solutions to the reduced non-linear similarity equations are then obtained by adopting shooting method using the Nachtsheim- Swigert iteration technique. Also the pressure distribution is obtained using Simpson's 1/3 integration scheme.

A single commodity inventory model for deteriorating items with the assumption that the life time of the commodity is random and follows a Weibull distribution with shortages has been develope and analysed. It is assumed that the deteriorated item is not thrown out as a wastage but it is sold for certain discount price. Using the differential equations, the instantaneous state of inventory is derived. With suitable cost considerations, the optimal selling price and optimal ordering quantity are derived and analysed. It is observed that "selling of the deteriorated items" has significant impact on the optimal control policies. The sensitivity of the model with respect to costs and parametrs is also analysed through numerical illustration.

Numerical calculations up to third level of truncation are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameters and an analysis of the results obtained shows that the flow field is influenced appreciably by the heat source and suction or injection at the wall of the wedge.

Stage structured prey, predator model with a infected prey is developed using a state dependent time. The prey population is being structured according to the stages of life, immature and mature. The infection in prey is also been considered. The criteria for existence ad uniqueness of the multiple positive equilibria are given. The stability of the equilibria are discussed and it in shown that there exists a globally asymptotically stable positive equilibrium in the absence of delay. The effect of delay on the stability of the system is also discussed. It is shown that if the length of delay increases, the stability with be violated and Hopfbifurcation may occur, of small amplitudes.
