A new approach is presented to solve Linear Fractional Programming Problems. The ratios of the net evaluation for the non-basic variables corresponding to the numerator and denominator of the objective function are computed, these ratios are compared with the objective function value at that iteration to select an entering variable. However, it is assumed that the denominator objective function value will be always positive. Both numerator and denominator objective function value may be either positive or negative. Depending upon the sign of the net evaluation and the sign of the numerator and denominator, objective function values at each iteration, sixteen different cases arise. An entering variably is selected in an iteration based on these, conditions. If no variable could be selected then the optimal solution is obtained.

Djrbashian, which in essence gave rise to the theory of weighted A^p_α (or initially H^p (α)) spaces in the unit disc of the complex plane, and hence to extend to Cⁿ several results of the one-dimensional general theory. Nonetheless, the representation connected with a natural isometry between A²_w and the ordinary Hardy space H² in the ball, which has an explicit form of integral operator along with its inversion has been given.

Let F be a finite field and T a transcendental element over F. For positive integers m, n and r with 0 ≤ r ≤ m - 1, infinitely many global function fields K of degree m have been constructed over F(T) such that K has unit rank r and the ideal class group of K contains a subgroup isomorphic to (Z/nZ)^m-r. The work improves Pacelli's work by increasing the subgroup rank from m - r - 1 to m - r, and also the result for other behavior of the prime at infinity. In particular, for the unit rank r = 0, [7] earlier work was carried out on the case in which the infinite prime is inert. The case is completed in which the infinite prime is totally ramified. For 0 ≤ r ≤ m-1, the following two cases have been considered for the splitting behavior of the prime at infinity. The prime at infinity splits into r + 1 primes, one with relative degree m - r, the others with relative degree 1, all unramified, or the prime at infinity splits into r + 1 primes, one with ramification index m - r, the others unramified, all with relative degree 1.

Let G be the Galois group of a solvable Galois extension K/F of number fields. The holmorphy of certain Artin L-functions attached to K/F has been demonstrated, generalizing results of M.R. Murty and A. Raghuram. Also a bound on the ordedrs of certain Artin L-functions at an arbitrary point in the complex plane by the order of a corresponding quotient of Dedekind zeta functions has been given. Some corollaries on the possible orders of zeros of such quotients have also been deduced.

The group of m-torsion points on an elliptic curve, for a prime number m, forms a two-dimensional vector space. It was suggested and proven by Yoshida that under certain conditions the vector decomposition problem (VDP) on a two-dimensional vector space is at least as hard as the computational Diffie-Hellman problem (CDHP) on a one-dimensional subspace. It has been shown that even though this asssessment is true, it applies to the VDP for m-torsion points on an elliptic curve only if the curve is supersingular. But in the case the CDHP on the one-dimensional subspace has a known sub-exponential solution. Furthermore, a family of hyperelliptic curves of genus two that are suitable for the VDP has been presented.

Texture surface are often observed in natural scene aerial or satellite photograph, biomedical image etc., Much research work on texture analysis was based on second order statistics of texture. In the texture model wavelet using MRF and Gibbs' distribution, gray levels between nearest neighbouring pixels are characterized by stochastic relationship. In these methods pixels have been dealt with in a single scale. Textures are asserted by local transformation and energy variations. Recent developments in spatial and frequency analysis provide good multiresolutional analytical tool. Pyramid and tree structured wavelets have been used to study the basic component of textures. The tools have been applied to specimens drawn from standard library. The experimental results are analyzed through fuzzy segmentation and basic filtering type.

A left multiplier of L^p(G, X) is a bounded linear operator on L^p(G, X) which commutes with all left translations. Use has been made of characterization of isometrics of L^p(G, X) onto itself to characterize the isometric, invertible, left multipliers of L^p(G, X) for 1 <131> p <60> <133>, p <153> 2, under the assumption that X is not the l^p-direct sum of two non-zero subspaces. In fact it has been proved that if T is an isometric left mtiltiplier of L^p(G, X) onto itself then there exists a y <174> G and an isometry U of X onto itself such that Tf(x) = U(R_yf)(x). As an application, we determine the isometric left multipliers of L¹ <167> L^p(G, X) and L¹ <167> C₀(G, X) where G is non-compact and X is not the l^p-direct sum of two non-zero subspaces. If G is a locally compact abelian group and H is a separable Hilbert space, we define A^p(G, H) = {f <174> L¹(G, H): ??f <174> L^p(<71>, H)} where <71> is the dual group of G. We characterize the isometric, invertible, left multipliers of A^p(G, H), provided G is non-compact. Finally, we use the characterization of isometrics of C(G, X) for G compact to determine the isometric left multipliers of C(G, X) provided X* is strictly convex.

A fully developed free convective flow through a porous medium in a vertical channel using Brinkman's model taking into account both viscous and Darcy dissipation has been analysed. The finite element analysis of these non-linear equations is carried out using iterative procedure. The velocity, temperature and Nusselt number are evaluated and their behaviour is discussed for variations in D and G. It has been observed that in a given permeable medium the fluid velocity experiences a retardation with an increase in the thermal buoyancy and also higher the permeability greater the temperature in the flow field. The presence of viscous and Darcy dissipation enhances the rate of heat transfer with an increase in the buoyancy temperature or the premeability of the medium.

The exit or wastage of personnel is a common phenomenon in any organization. This is very frequent especially when policies regarding incentives, targets and promotions are revised which leads to loss of man hours. If the cumulative loss of man hours exceeds a particular level called the threshold, the organization reaches the breakdown point beyond which it cannot sustain. At this stage, recruitment is inevitable. Assuming that the inter arrival times between decision making epochs are exchangeable, constantly correlated exponential random variables and the threshold distribution has "Setting the Clock Back to Zero" (SCBZ) property, a mathematical model is constructed and the expected time to recruitment is obtained using shock model approach and cumualtive damage process of reliability theory. The result is numerically illustrated, assuming specific distribution.

An exact periodic solution of a two-dimensional flow of an electrically conducting viscous, incompressible fluid bounded by two parrallel infinite porous horizontal plates is obtained. The lower plate is stationary and the upper one is oscillating in time about a constant mean. The fluid motion is also subjected to constant injection and suction through the lower and upper plates respectively in the presence of uniform magnetic field applied perpendicular to the plates. The unsteady problem is solved exactly and the transient velocity, the amplitude and the phase of the skin friction at the stationary plate are discussed.

The work deals with the study of 3-D Couette MHD flow of a viscous incompressible fluid between two infinite horizontal parallel porous flat plates. The upper plate is subjected to a constant suction while the lower plate to a transverse sinusoidal injection velocity distribution. The flow becomes three-dimensional Couette MHD due to this type of injection velocity distribution. The non-linear partial differential equations are then solved numerically using finite difference scheme and the expression for the velocity and temperature field are obtained. The effects of Hartmann number M and suction parameter R are observed on velocity and temperature distribution.

Steady flow of blood through a rigid straight circular tube has been studied under the influence of periodic body acceleration in a magnetic field by considering blood as a couple stress fluid. With the help of finite Hankel transforms, an exact solution is obtained for the steady flow of blood as an electrically conducting, incompressible, couple stress fluid in the presence of a magnetic field along the radius of the tube. Analytical expressions for axial velocity and flow rate have been obtained. It is of interest to note that as the magnetic effect is increased the velocity of the blood decreased, due to this certain cardiovascular diseases can be treated by the magnetic effect. The effects of magnetic field and body acceleration have been shown through graphs.

A new model to study the stratified flow in a pipe has been proposed and by using this model the stratified laminar flow of non-Newtonian fluids in a pipe is studied. The velocity profile of the stratified flow in the pipe is studied theoretically. Assuming that the flow system is steady and the pressure gradient is constant, the laws of velocity distribution and the correlation of flow rate are studied. It is found that the drag reduction can be achieved by aeration in the stratified flow, which is important in applications for transportation technology of mixed gas.

The capability of yoga practices in giving favourable results in obesity has been established.
