The effect of radiative transfer on the thermal instability of an incompressible fluid spherical shell heated within has been examined. The problem has been solved for two approximations of the radiative transfer equations, namely, when the fluid is optically thin and when it is optically thick. For the transparent medium the problem has been restricted to the case in which it haqs been assumed that the temperature gradient to be constant. This assumption has been made because it is not possible to establish the variational principle for the vriable temperature gradient.

The thermal instability of a layer of Rivlin-Ericksen elastico-viscous fluid permeated with suspended particles in porous medium acted on by a uniform magnetic field is considered. For stationary convection, Rivlin-Ericksen elastico-viscous field behaves like a Newtonian fluid. The magnetic field is found to have stabilizing effect whereas suspended particles and medium permeability have destabilizing effect, for the case of stationary convection. The magnetic field introduces oscillatory modes in the system, which were non-existent in its absence.

The governing equations for the formulated problem are solved by perturbation technique. The expressions for the velocity profile and temperature distribution are derived. Knowing the temperature field, the heat transfer at the walls is obtained.

Basic algebraic structure underlying the notion of supersymmetry is a graded Lie algebra which involves both commutation and anticommutation relations and plays a unique role in particle physics providing a fusion between space-time and internal symmetries. In the history of diversified ways of the study of various space-time symmetries and their fusion with internal symmetries, one of the convenient methods has been to place emphasis on homogeneous Lorentz group (HLG) which leads to the study of the irreducible representations of Poincare group used as Lie algebra in super-symmetric theories. An interconnection between superluminal transformation and supersymmetric transformations has been investigated in complex C³- space and the evolution of bosonic and fermionic subspaces in such space has been presented. Introducing the suitable anticommuting operators to induce grading in Poincare group in C³- space in terms of components of complex angular operator, the supersymmetric algebra connecting bradyonic and tachyonic bosons and fermions has been constructed and it has been concluded that the difference between scales of bosonic and fermionic subspaces in C³- space increases quickly.

The problem is solved by using a regular expansion method for small values of frequency parameter. The Fermat curves correspond precisely to those curves among each class (for e = l, 2l), that are maximal or minimal over F_q. It has been observed that each Fermat prime gives rise to explicit maximal and minimal curves over finite fields of characteristic 2. For e = 2l, the <122>-function(s) for this class of curves, over F_q, as rational functions in the variable t, for distinct cases of a, b, and c, in F_q* have been explicited. The <122>-function in each case is seen to satisfy the Weil conjectures (now theorems) for this concrete class of curves. For e = l, 2l, The class numbers for the function fields associated to each class of curves over F_q. As a consequence, when the field of definition of the curve(s) is fixed, this provides concrete information on the growth of class numbers for constant field extensions of the function field(s) of the curve(s).

For the case of stationary convection, the compressibility, stable solute gradient and rotation postpone the onset of convection whereas the couple-stress viscosity postpones as well as hastens the onset of convection depending on rotation parameter. The case of overstability is also studied wherein a sufficient condition for the non-existence of overstability is found.

Chaotic evoluation of Froude pendulum driven by a periodic forcing has been investigated in detail. Control of such chaotic motion has been studied by using periodic parametric excitation method. Melnikov's method has also been employed to derive meaningful results. Numerical results have been obtained to support the analytical calculation.

The paper consider the problem of output feedback stabilization of a delay system by a finite order controller. The idea is based on (1) using a linear transformation to obtain a delay free system that represents the retarded system, (2) a controller is then computed based on this finite order system. Under the condition of spectral stabilizability and an upper bound of a matrix transfer function, a characterization of admissible controllers is given. If these conditions are satisfied, it is then shown how to obtain an output stabilizing feedback control law.

The present analysis examines the laminar boundary layer along a flat plate through porous medium in a non-Newtonian second order fluid in the presence of a magnetic field acting perpendicular to the plate. The problem is solved by the application of steepest descent method used by Meksyn. The effects of porosity parameter (K) and magnetic parameter (β) in non-Newtonian fluid on the components of velocity are studied in details with the help of tables and graphs.
