This statistic is appropriately developed under `variance-inflation' model for detecting outliers in the general linear model (y, Xθ, σ²I) for experimental designs. The simplified form of this statistic is obtained for both one-way and two-way elimination of heterogeneity settings. The relationship between Cook-statistic under `mean shift' model and Cook-statistic under `variance-inflation' model for a single outlier is established and it has been shown that an observation which is an outlier under `mean shift' model may not be so under `variance-inflation' model. Through an example it has been shown that heteroscedasticity in the data may not influence the estimation of parameters.

The influence of the various parameters, entering into the problem, on the velocity profiles, temperature profiles, species concentration, the amplitudes and phases of the fluctuating parts of the skin-friction and the heat transfer are extensively discussed graphically. All numerical calculations are done with respect to air (Pr = 0.71 at 20°C).

The Fourier-Laplace transforms of the stresses, displacements, pore pressure and fluid flux in each homogeneous layer of the multi-layered half-space are expressed in terms of six arbitrary constants. Generalized Thomson-Haskell matrix method is used to obtain the deformation field. Simplified explicit expressions for the elements of the 6 x 6 propagator matrix for the poroelastic medium are obtained. As an example of the possible applications of the analytªical formulation developed, formal solution is given for normal strip loading, normal line loading and shear line loading.
