Erlang B-formula (or Erlang loss function / formula), first established by Erlang in 1917, has been of continued interest even to this day, mainly because of its immense practical importance in telecommunication theory. Its usefulness is also found in more recent and complicated technologies like ATM. New light on different aspects of the formula is being thrown and new techniques of computations are being evolved. Some light on its history is also being sought, even today. Many new topics like loss systems, loss networks and so on have been developed - many of these use Erlang B formula (though Engset loss model does not involve this formula). Several extensions and approximations have been advanced in cases of models where exact Erlang loss formula does not hold. In this survey, some interesting developments of the Erlang B- formula are put forward.

The deficient complex cubic spline function interploating at the nodal points of subarcs of a rectifiable Jordan arc was considered by Chatterjee and Dikshi. Authors consdier a natural question whether the deficient complex cubic spline function can be obtained which interpolates at an intermediate point of the subarcs including nodal points. It was shown that the analysis can be extended to establish that interpolations at intermediate poitns are possible.

Flow of information in communication network may not be successful through some links due to technical faults or due to saturation of capacity, resulting in a state of no connectivity, which defined as a no communication state. This phenomenon of temporary non-availability or availability of a link changes the logical topology of the network. Such a network has been defined as a protean communication flow network. Intended to develop a mathematical model to find the flow capacity of such a communication network. There are two cases that could be considered. In one link changes their state but nodes are always in an operational state. In the other, nodes change their state but links are always in the operational state. In this investigation the case where link changes their state but nodes are always in the operational state has been considered. When a link fails, it is possible that it will fail to transmit flow. This also means that required flow may not reach the destination intended for the time period that the failed link remains un-repaired. Assumed that the communication has the capacity to store information during this failure. Analyzed and find the reliability of a two-state communication flow network in which the link is either in a communication state or in no communication network.

It is also assumed that one of the walls is isothermal and the other is anabatic. The effects of the various parameters, entering into the problem, on the velocity field and temperature distribution are discussed. The Skin friction, Nusselt Number for the isothermal wall and Recovery Factor for adiabatic wall are also tabulated for different values of parameters.

Concepts of M-tensors and M-connection have been used, in a preferred frame, to study structure of a symmetric tensor of type (0,2) on the tangent bundle TM_2n of a complex manifold M_2n. In particular, three Riemannian metrics d_g, h_g and c_g are obtained. Three Hermitian metrics, d_h, h_h and c_h are also obtained. It has been shown that Hermitian metrics are invariant under various types of almost complex, structure on TM_2n.

Two new C^∞-manifolds B_n and B_n* have been defined. It has been shown that a C^∞ manifold B_n* is necessarily a C^∞-manifold B_n. It has been proved that if a C^∞-manifold B_n is integrable then it is a V_n* manifold. Further certain important properties of a C^∞ manifold B_n have also been obtained which are of great geometrical importance.

In the present paper free convective flow of an incompressible, electrically conducting, viscous fluid through a porous medium between two vertical plates under a pressure gradient in presence of uniform transvere magnetic field is studied. Analytical solutions for velocity field and temperature distribution have been derived using singular perturbation technique. The expressions for mass flow rate ratio, friction factor ratio and heat transfer rate have also been obtained. The results of the study have been discussed numerically to observe the effect of various parameters encountered into the problem.
