Use of recycled aggregate (RA) in concrete can be useful for environmental protection and in economical terms. Recycled aggregates are the materials for the future. It is a well-known fact that it gives a little lower strength than natural aggregate concrete. Though, if used up to 20% of replacement, it can give almost similar strength as that of natural aggregate concrete. Hence, it is necessary to improve strength of recycled aggregate concrete for higher recycled aggregate content. Silica fume is a very popular material used for strength improvement. Hence, popular mix of 1:1.5:3 was checked with different percentage of silica fume combination; 5%, 7% and 10% of silica fume was replaced with cement and 30%, 50% and 100% of recycled aggregates were replaced with natural aggregate and results were analyzed. Thus a total of nine trials were analyzed and conclusions were derived in detail.

Review work based on the polymer flood for offshore heavy oil reservoir is presented. In recent years, the CNOOC has launched quite a few chemical EOR projects at offshore oilfields in the Bohai Bay, China. With the useful life of platform and the present production state, polymer flooding is considered and already proved as an important technology for the strategic development of offshore heavy oil fields in the Bohai Bay. Up to 2010, there were three polymer-EOR projects on heavy oil field with the water cut between 10 and 80%. And about 20,000 tons polymer powder was used in 27 wells in the past 5 years. It has been seen that the water cut declined while the oil production increased. The application result shown is feasible. The procedure of polymer injection is presented.

It is introduced by the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB). This QLASSIC system consists of a building construction standard where all the contractors must follow the specifications, if adopting this system in their construction project. The literature commonly categorizes motivation factors into two types -internal and external. Both types of motivation factors, related to the benefits on adopting the QLASSIC system, are put into this study. Further analysis will be done to determine the motives and benefits relationship behind the adoption of the QLASSIC system in the construction projects.

Flow is analysed over conically cambered wings for transonic flaw conditions. Wing Planform is conically cambered for supersonic flow for minimum induced drag. The circulation to determine the forces is developed using panel methods. Objective function for drag minima is formed using Lagrange multipliers. The transonic flow computations are progressed through computational fluid dynamics. In case of a subsonic leading edge in supersonic flow there is no shock wave that appears over the wing, whether the wing is non-optimal or optimally cambered. This is advantageous towards optimization. The tip region is seen to have appreciable difference in nature of pressure distribution for these two cases over the entire chord length.

Experimental and numerical studies were performed to study the collapse mechanism of aluminium spherical shells of different radius to mean thickness (R/T) ratios, subjected to quasi-static and impact loading between a platen and a hemispherical nosed indenter. Typical stages of their collapse, collapse modes, meridian thickness variations and load-compression behaviour, are presented and influence thereon of the shell geometry and the rate of loading are discussed. These shells were numerically simulated under both quasi-static and dynamic loading, using the finite element code FORGE2. The material in the simulation was taken to be rigid-viscoplastic. The results thus obtained from experimental and numerical modelling compared well. The variations of equivalent strain, equivalent strain rate, different stress components and velocity distribution at some stages of collapse have also been computed and typical results are presented. A comparison of collapse modes and mean collapse loads in quasi-static and impact loading has been presented and their salient features discussed.

Developments of nickel base superalloys in this review is to study the latest trend of improvement with reference to high temperature performance and performances in aggressive media. The utilization of these alloys as candidate have well documented for thermal plants, atomic reactors, airways sectors and chemical plants. Castability attributes to in service ordered precipitation at high temperature described to understand the contemporary scenario. The effects of additional elements have always attempted to alloy without affecting the primary property requirements. Similarly welding have appeared to be improved by adopting inertia friction welding, transient liquid phase bonding or directly fabricating complex designed components by suitable hot isostatic pressing technique. However in case of joining methods the heat affected zone has always attempted to occupy thinner section zone. In oxidation, the developments have emphasized on oxygen scavenging elemental additions those induced dispersion of oxides in matrix and thin film formation for surface protection with out spallation of oxidized surface layers. The states of protection have also explained in response to applied stress associated so as to enhance crack formation. Hydrogenations of nickel base superalloys have referred to be highly accumulation oriented that enhanced embrittlement. Minimizations of grain boundaries have referred to improve the embrittling properties to approach to the single crystals.

The recovery factor of low permeability oilfield in China is only about 20%, which is enormously lower than the recovery factor index of 60% by using water-chemical flooding in medium and high permeability layer. There are a lot of causes that resulted in low recovery factor, among them that the complex pore structure, tiny throat, large pore throat ratio and non-Darcy flow in low-permeability oil layer are the main causes that restrict the low-permeability oil layer to enhance the recovery factor. Based on the research results about micro-fluid flow and non-Darcy flow, microflow of water drive and micro-acting force in the porous media are researched in this paper, establishing the expression of fluid viscosity factor, 2D flowing control equation and the relevant boundary condition under the conditions of liquid/solid interaction in the micro-pore media, all that gain the flowing rules of fluid under these two conditions of considering L/S interaction or not considering that. Numerical calculation shows that under the condition of L/S interaction, the radial velocity distribution near the solid wall changes obviously, and the curve form changes from convex to concave. The tinier the capillary radius, the stronger the L/S interaction is. The larger n value is, more obvious the flowing velocity decrease in the boundary layer. The results will help people dealing with improving recovery factor of low permeability reservoir, and understanding the fluid behavior in vessel.

Tin brass heat exchanger tube was hydrogen charged under different cathodic charging conditions. The introduction of charged hydrogen into tin brass tube was found to induce hardening on its surface. The severity and the depth of the hardened region was observed to increase with either cathodic current density or charging time. Ageing after charging results in either complete or partial recovery of hardness, depending on the charging conditions applied to heat exchanger tube.

From an electrical conductivity perspective, only chromia forming alloys can be considered as candidates for interconnect application in solid oxide fuel cell. In this research, AISI430 ferritic stainless steel was coated in a Mn-base pack mixture by pack cementation method. Electrical conductivity of the coated coupons was measured as a function of temperature by oxidizing the samples from room temperature to 800°C. Also the electrical conductivity has been studied as a function of oxidation time during isothermal oxidation at 800°C. Results showed the increase of temperature caused to the decrease of electrical conductivity and also, the coating layer transformed to manganese spinels during isothermal oxidation. The spinel compositions ameliorated the electrical conductivity activation energy of coated coupons (0.029 eV) compared to uncoated ones (0.031 eV).

In this study, non-destructive tests were performed on ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and Portland pozzolana cement (PPC) based concrete specimens, namely the ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) and rebound hammer (RN). A relationship is thus established between the NDT values and the compressive strength. A statistical regression analysis was performed between the compressive strength with UPV and RN values to obtain a best-fit relationship and correlation coefficients. To take into account the possibility that the relationship thus obtained may result in a lesser fitted curve, adjusted correlation coefficients were taken into account. It was found that UPV results in more efficient prediction of compressive strength of concrete when the type of concrete is considered, while RN results in much better results when the type of concrete is ignored. However, combined UPV and RN values provided an improvement in the prediction of concrete strength and proved to be efficient and reliable closer to the actual measured strength. Further, the relationships obtained for PPC had higher correlation coefficients compared to OPC-based concrete specimens. The relationships established were also compared with other relationships from previous researchers and were found to be more consistent.

Contracts provide technical assistance for implementation of works. Disputes occur between the parties involved in the contract due to number of factors. Interpretation of escalation clause is one of the reasons for disputes which necessitate proper drafting of contract terms and conditions and its extensive study. There are various construction contract formats prevalent in India which differs from one another in their provisions. Uncertainty in the cost of works executed arises due to fluctuations in the costs of labor and materials which prevail due to changing economy. Therefore budgeting for cost escalation in the planning phase of projects is very important. This paper studies contracts, claims and disputes with special reference to escalation and compares the provisions for escalation in various construction contract forms. Legal cases of escalation related disputes and their respective awards given by the arbitrators have been studied. An attempt has been made to suggest policies in existing structure of clauses to improve the price escalation system and minimize occurrence of escalation disputes at the contract drafting phase in a construction contract.

The simulation has been carried out using Cadence Virtuoso Spectre at 45 nm technology.

Strengthening and rehabilitation of structures is a major concern for researchers in the civil engineering community in recent years due to the aging of structures and the need for effective methods of strengthening. Many researches are being carried out on strengthening of reinforced concrete structures using fiber composite materials. A very few researches are being reported on strengthening of corroded steel members using fiber composite materials. Since corrosion is an inevitable problem related to steel structures, especially in offshore oil and gas industry, it is very much essential to investigate the suitability of composite materials on structural steel section. In this present study, an experimental investigation is being carried out with 26 numbers of corroded steel coupon specimens with two different fibers - Carbon Fiber (CF) and Glass Fiber (GF). Strengthening was achieved by single and double layer wrapping of FRP to the steel plates and the tests were conducted. The test results show that FRP strengthening is capable of enhancing the tensile strength sufficiently provided adequate bonding is achieved.

Low power bus architecture [9, 12, 13] consists of Driver, Receiver and Interconnects in between them inside the Chip. The Low power bus architecture [1] models are classified in to Symmetric and Asymmetric [7, 11, 14, 15] based on low voltage scaling technique and very simple design principles were utilized to construct driver, receiver and interconnects. The low power bus driver has the ability to switch from a low swing to high swing mode. The receiver can be a simple inverter. The bus architecture consists of a driver which has an input the nominal voltage value level and decreases the voltage swing on the bus line (or the output load); and a receiver which regenerates the proper voltage levels in order to ensure the compatibility with the attached circuits. These bus architectures are designed in conventional CMOS technology and Pseudo NMOS technology. These bus architectures were implemented on 2.0 V 0.25urn CMOS technology using T-Spice (Monte Carlo Simulation), for signal transmission along a wire-length of 3, 6, and 10 mm and the extra fan-out load of 0.12 pF (on the wire). The performance of each of the presented circuits is thoroughly examined using simulation on a test benchmark interconnect circuit (i) RC-π (N) type (where N = 1, 2, 3), (ii) RC-L type. Comparisons of the proposed architecture with conventional CMOS architecture are presented as well, indicating a significant saving in power due to low voltage scaling. The advantages of the proposed architectures are that they require only one power supply and threshold voltage as well as less area, hence significantly reducing the design complexity.

In flotation such parameters as particle size, type and dosages of frother as well as collector as reagent and hydrodynamic parameters play a significant role. Changing them can vary the separation performance. In this study, for a more efficient flotation of copper ore coarse particles, changes in reagents distribution strategy in a mechanical column of rougher flotation circuit from Iranian Miduk Copper Complex have been investigated. For this aim laboratory and an industrial experiments were carried out. The results have demonstrated that modifying the distribution strategy did not affect the optimum particle size recovery but recovery of coarse particles is improved. Also the copper recovery/grade curve and statistical analysis disclose that with the confidence level of 90% the average separation efficiency with modified reagent distribution is increased by 0.76% but the grade of concentrate does not change.

Hydrodynamic model of the lower Tapi river from Ukai dam to Surat city has been developed using well known unsteady open channel flow code HEC-RAS using field surveyed geometric data of the stream with appropriate upstream and downstream boundary conditions. The flood flows of years 1998, 2003 and 2006 have been simulated in the said model. The observed and simulated flood and stage hydrographs are compared at different stations on the river. The performance statistics reveal that simulated flood flows are in close agreement with observed flows. The model can be used for the flood forecasting in lower Tapi river downstream of Ukai dam.

Finite volume method (FVM) and implicit finite difference method (FDM) have been used to solve multi-process non-equilibrium (MPNE) transport equation for reactive solute transport through porous media. A review of literature reveals that an analysis of MPNE transport model has not been carried out to study its performance for advection and dispersion dominant cases. The main objective of the study is to asses the performance of both FDM and FVM in presence of high value of Peclet number (Pe) for reactive transport through porous media. It is shown that, in case of advection dominant transport (i.e. at high value of Pe), FDM numerical model remains stable and oscillation free, when the values of mass transfer and sorption rate coefficients are high. Further, FVM model is capable of simulating advection dominant transport irrespective of the values of mass transfer and sorption rate coefficient. This is established through simulation of the experimental data of Strontium.

A large number of water hammer cases have been analyzed using this technique, not only for simple systems but also for those with rather complex situations. The analysis for a water conductor system having intermediate boundary condition such as pump behavior needed a hybrid mathematical model. The results of analyzing such system and comparing them with those obtained from the hydraulic scale model give more confidence in adoption of the mathematical technique.

The numerical wave tank is modelled using a finite difference method based numerical scheme, BOUSS-2D. In the study, the emphasis is given to the wave oscillations between the porous barriers (chamber) and its effect on the hydrodynamic performance. The wave oscillations measured inside the chamber were analysed qualitatively through phase portraits and quantitatively through spectral transformations. Though the complex littoral drift phenomenon is left unnoticed on natural open coasts in view of its `large time-scale' evolutionary effects on beach morphology, the same can never be ignored when open coast port developments are planned particularly in large littoral drift regions. Reveals the success story of port of Visakhapatnam which was designed with integrated vision, considering the various aspects like wave tranquillity, siltation etc. including the morphological aspects. By providing offshore south breakwater with a gap to allow entry of littoral drift sediments towards a protected sand trap within the harbour and proactive actions of regular sand bypassing on down drift reach, a 3 km long beach could be created and maintained. The inferences drawn from systematic analysis of about 30 years beach profiles data till 2009, collected in the post outer harbour period clearly depict the success rate of various strategies adopted for dredging and disposal of sediments in tackling the littoral drift phenomenon. The analysis presented reflects the true character of down drift beaches in response to the artificial sand bypassing and thus useful for design of appropriate measures for similar development projects on the east coast of India.

Submarine pipeline is used as a seawater intake system since it is cost effective compared to canal and jetty type intake structures. Open channel type intakes attract large deposition of sediments and hence periodic maintenance dredging is essential. Jetty type seawater intake is generally expensive. Much coastal water around the world hold high concentration of Total Suspended Sediments (TSS) like the coastal waters of Sabiya area, Kuwait in the north western part of Arabian Gulf. The existing seawater intake channel of a power plant is attracting significant settlement of TSS. Maintenance dredging of about 400,000 m<^>3/year is carried out. It is proposed to increase the seawater intake for a proposed 2050 MW additional power plant and hence further increase in the TSS settlement is anticipated, if the present sea water intake system is used. Alternative type of seawater intake system, which can reduce the TSS is explored. Feasibility study is carried out to reduce the sediment entry into the power plant utility. The TSS levels were assessed, and its variations with respect to tidal phase, water depth and elevation along the depth are assessed. The settling velocity of the sediments is assessed. A sea water intake system is designed and the modality of taking water from the inlet and the configurations of the settling tanks are provided. It is advisable to draw water closer to the free water surface using a vertically moving intake well. It is found that the TSS level reduces 40% to 60% when the ambient flow velocity of sea water is minimum. Hence it is beneficial to avoid taking seawater when the sediment carrying capacity of the seawater is high during high currents. The study will be useful for feasibility design of submarine pipeline type intake for similar locations around the world.

In this paper, polyols of different degrees of functionalities and dual-mixture of the polyols were used as plasticizers of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and their plasticizing behavior were examined in detail. The plasticizing rate and the viscosity as well as non-isothermal crystallization behavior of the plasticized systems were measured by Haake torque rheometer and differential scanning carilorryetry (DSC), respectively. It was found that the polyols with a higher degree of functionality exhibited lower plasticizing rate, however, they stayed longer in PVA matrix. When using a mixture of polyols of low and high degree of functionality, both fast plasticizing and long-time stay in PVA matrix could be achieved. During the non-isothermal crystallization of plasticized PVA, the crystallization rate could be controlled by reverse osmotic effect.

Study is aimed at understanding the melting behavior of different Phase Change Materials (PCM) encapsulated in a spherical capsule. The melting process of PCM enclosed in spherical capsule has been investigated computationally and experimentally in the range of parameters useful for solar water heating applications. CFD predictions of the melting of two different PCMs viz. savE HS-58 and Paraffin wax (PW) inside a spherical capsule have been obtained. Experiments are performed by fixing the thermocouples in PCM inside a spherical capsule at various radial positions for HTF temperature of 70°C with a capsule of radius 41 mm. It can be inferred that melting point of HS-58 is in close requirement of solar water heating application with highest latent heat 247 kJ/kg compared to 190 kJ/kg of Paraffin Wax. Further Specific heat of HS-58 is also higher than PW and HS-58 is a mixture of organic and inorganic compound. It is also noticed that for the same weight HS-58 stores 19% of more heat with less volume compared with PW at average HTF temperature of 70°C around the spherical capsule.

The study of biomass assessment was conducted in the village of Nimbhora of district Akola in Maharashtra State. The biomass resources considered were agricultural crop residues and live stock waste (cattle dung). The present energy utilization pattern of the rural village has been studied for domestic as well as in farming activities. The proper biomass conversion system based on the available biomass resources were proposed for the self sufficient energy village. The installation sizing of the thermo-chemical systems like gasifier and digestion based biomethanation have been identified. The surplus bioenergy resource of the village had a energy generation capacity up to the 727539 kWh. The ratio of bioresources availability to demand represent the bioresources status and it was found 7: 1. It clearly indicates that bioresources in the village was surplus. It was realized that, renewable energy generation system, based on gasification and biogas suited to the village bioresources which have no ecological impact on cycle ofbioresources. The total power generator size of proposed renewable energy system was found to be 50 kW for village Nimbhora.

Demand of high purity metals and continuous depletion of high grade ores has made an important global issue for the selective recovery of metal values from minerals/ waste resources. To extract Nd from mineral or waste resources, initial studies were made using synthetic leach liquor of Nd containing 27.77 g/L Nd and 8.36 g/L Fe (pH 0.33). The solution was prepared by dissolving metal alloy of composition 30.10% Nd, 68.00% Fe, 1.07% Ni and 0.83% B in sulfuric acid. A double salt complex of Nd was precipitated from this synthetic solution using 50% NaOH. The 95.89% of Nd was precipitated out at pH 1.83. In this study Mn has been deposited onto the substrate AISI 430 Ferritic stainless steel by pack cementation process. In order to optimize the quality of the formed coating, the effective factors of pack cementation process was investigated by changing these factors, which are salt activator content in the pack powder (1-5%w.t.), deposition temperature (700-800°C) and deposition time (3.5-4 h). The as-coated samples were investigated with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) associated with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). It was revealed that each parameter affect the coating thickness, coating quality and integrity. The best formed coating on the substrate consists of 1 layer with the thickness of 30 micron. The purpose of this work was to investigate the electrical conductivity of AISI 430 stainless steel which was coated in a Co-base pack mixture by pack cementation method. Coated samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Electrical conductivity of the coated substrates was tested as a function of temperature by annealing the samples from room temperature to 800°C. The interactive approach is used to solve SOFLP model by involving the Decision Maker in all phases of decision making process. Gas turbines have prominence to utilize nickel base superalloys. There are different generations of nickel base superalloys developments. Of these refractory elements addition has been an important process. These have raised alloy element segregation tendencies to necessitate prolonged homogenization treatment. However directional solidification (DS) followed by mushy zone solution treatments have produced primary dendrites incorporated with secondary dendrites distributions. The bimodal microstructures have rendered to be highly interesting to resist aggressive weather of gas turbines. Crack formation in DS alloys have stated to be along single crystal growth direction necessitated to refurbish for reutilization by more than 2 to 3 times its primary life. The conventional welding has stated to be more complex with increasing refractory element additions. Laser welding have been better performer in this response. Heat affected zone (HAZ) cracking has been predominating failure mode by constitutional and bimodal intergranular liquation tendencies. These have recovered by wettable liquation product formations that bear tendencies of matrix metal penetration. In the strategy of surface protection has been another way to raise life. Sulphidation, halogenation, chlorination and oxidation at high temperature have been main modes to initiate failure. Surfacing with intermetallics or cermets has found to be optimized for prevention of these failures.

Characterization of sound-absorbing materials, like mineral wool or polymer foam, in the context of building or transport applications, requires the evaluation of their acoustic and nonacoustic properties. The acoustic properties quantify the material's sound absorbing efficiency, whereas the non-acoustic properties allow one to predict the material's acoustic performance in various industrial applications by the application of the appropriate acoustical model. A sound absorption material composed of blends of styrene isoprene styrene (S/S) rubber and high impact polystyrene (HIPS) has been developed. Its sound absorbing characteristics were investigated in an impedance tube, according to transfer function method. Measurements show that S/S ratios have a significant effect on the acoustic absorption performance of the blend due to their microstructures and physical features. The structure and properties of the blend is characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, a polymer blend of styªrene isoprene styrene rubber and high impact polystyrene was tested in order to quantify its hardness and Izod impact strength properties.

Water is one of the most vital requirements for sustenance of life. Water, along with soil, forms the combination of the most essential natural resource for economic and social development. A study of soil and water dynamics at a watershed level can facilitate a scientific approach to a conservation and management plan for them. The study is an attempt to implement Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation (MUSLE) using Soil Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) method for runoff estimation and comparison of soil loss results for the catchments of Baindur Hole and Yedamavina Hole in Udupi district of Karnataka state obtained by times of concentration calculated by the Kirpich equation and the Williams equation. Preparation of base map and thematic maps was carried out using IRS-1C, LISS-III image for LU/LC and from SOI toposheet in a GIS environment for overlaying and extraction of results. The time of concentration estimated by the Kirpich formula is lower in all cases; hence the corresponding soil loss is higher by 1.4 times in comparison to Williams' formula. The catchments 23 and 17 with a lower drainage length show comparatively higher values of soil loss in case of the Williams equation which can be attributed to the higher importance given to drainage length in the equation.

Following along predefined spatial paths, AUVs are able to gather valuable seabed information in a designated area by recruiting sonar suites. The acoustic data collected by AUVs are usually in the type of point cloud with range information. Hence, how to reconstruct the topography of seabed via 3D point cloud data is the key to build the 3D seabed map. In order to address the problem, the paper presents a practical mesh method to achieve an accurate reconstruction of seabed surface from raw sonar records. Sonar data processing consists of three stages: point clearing, point normal and 3D surface reconstruction. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Present study consists the diagnosis of thruster fault condition using statistical design of experiment. Fault in thruster can cause deviation in process parameter, i.e. current load which could interfere with the propulsion system and overall system operation. The faulty conditions are demonstrated by blocked ducting. Variations of current load due to several conditions e.g. normal and faulty are studied using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and factorial design. Two-Factor factorial design is used to analyze the means in each factor. The two factors are the armature voltage and thruster condition. Tukey's method is used to test all pair wise means in a single factor i.e. thruster condition in order to confirm the significant variation for each condition. Result from the experiment shows that the null hypothesis H0 for both Two-Factor factorial design and Tukey's test are rejected and the alternate hypothesis H1 is accepted. This indicates that the current loads for each pair are varying and all means in thruster condition factor are significantly different.

Effort to enhance receiving response of piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (pMUT) at low frequency was reported. PMUTs were fabricated with the vibrating membrane formed by a layer of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) polymer. Lead zirconate titanate, Pd (Zt,Ti)O3 (PZT) was utilized as the piezo-active layer, sputtered with nickel electrodes. Spin coating and low temperature wafer bonding were proposed as part of the key fabrication methods. Fabricated transducers were characterized in the compact acoustic tank setup using 500 kHz and 1.25 MHz reference projectors. Analyses revealed the maximum receiving response was -36.6 dB re IV of 200 kHz burst at 10 X hydrophone-projector separations and 20 V peak to peak of drive voltage on reference projector. Finally, response spectrum of the transducer was plotted against two commercialized bulk hydrophones at equivalent frequency band for validation and comparison.

Comparative corrosion behaviour of Al-Cu based LM13 alloy, LM13-10%SiCp composite and cast iron has been evaluated in 3.5% NaCl solution using electrochemical measurements and surface studies. It is found that the base alloy shows better corrosion resistance than composite, whereas cast iron exhibits comparatively poor corrosion resistance. Presence of alumina film on the base alloy and the composite increases their corrosion resistance up to certain level. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurement indicates that charge transfer reaction related to diffusion of chloride ions proceeds through the oxide/solution interfaces in the beginning. This increases with the increase in exposure time. Microstructural study of the corroded surfaces suggests the occurrence of the galvanic corrosion to the base alloy and the composite and graphite corrosion to the cast iron.

Simple log-domain technique based Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) universal biquad realizing simultaneously all the standard filtering functions viz; Lowpass (LP), Highpass (HP), Bandpass (BP), Bandstop (BS), and Allpass (AP) is presented in this paper. The biquad being designed by log-domain technique offers all its advantages. The circuit besides permitting independent electronic adjustment of pole frequency (ωo) and the Quality factor (Q)-is: simultaneously Single-Input-Muttiple-Output (SIMO) and Multiple-Input-Single-Output (MISO), free from matching conditions, capable of absorbing the shunt parasitic capacitances, amenable for monolithic integration, composed of merely a few exponential transconductor cells and grounded elements. The other features of circuit are its low sensitivity and good linearity. Simulated and experimental results are obtained to prove the theoretical analyses.

Present study consists the behaviour of Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a vibrating membrane for acoustic signal detection application. Modelling and simulation work was performed using ANSYS 12.1. Theory of acoustic impedance showed that PDMS acting as an acoustic membrane is acoustically matched when operated in water rather than air with 96.7% energy transfer efficiency. Effect of hydrostatic pressure on the membrane deflection was studied for a very shallow application with depth level ranging from 0 to 1m. Effect of PDMS structural geometry on its deflection behaviour was also studied by varying the radius and thickness of the membrane structure. Finally, according to the deflection theory, the type of membrane deflection was classified based on the variation of radius to thickness ratio of the membrane as well as the applied pressure.

The general topography of the city Kolkata is bowl shaped that is the centre of the city is same what of lower elevation lake, disposal water lies on the last ward slope of the city. Kolkata lies in a clay bed deposited by river Hoogly. Topographically the city slopes away from the river and large parts of the metropolitan area have a basin like configuration. All these made the city prone to water logging and the drainage and sewerage system of Kolkata is less than 50 years old. In addition Hoogly river is subject to tides with the result that during the rainy season when drainage problem reach their peak high tides and heavy precipitation after coincide resulting in the back flow of water from the river into parts of the city. Among several water logging zones of Kolkata Southern Avenue and its adjoining areas suffered from acute and prolonged water logging till 2006. Storm water drainage scheme was proposed in 2004 to solve the water stagnation to a certain extend. It envisaged discharging of storm run off independently to Tolly's Nullah is proposed to operate during the monsoon only. The study brings out the proposed storm water Drainage Master Plan and its proper and successful execution to solve the water logging problem of Southern Avenue and its adjoining areas which brought relief for the people of the area directly and people from south-East of Kolkata indirectly who use this road.

Present study consists the design method for modular composite hull of a hybrid autonomous underwater vehicle. Step by step method to design the modular composite drybox hull is described and discussed. FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for material strength analysis was used to design and estimate composition of each layer of composites structure. Overall proposed design method lead to the identification of the most efficient number of layers and acceptable safety factor for the composites drybox.
